The Bishop of St Albans received the following written answer on 27th January 2025:
The Lord Bishop of St Albans asked His Majesty’s Government whether they intend to meet the four UK-based pro-democracy campaigners who had bounties placed on them by the Hong Kong Police on 24 December 2024.
Baroness Chapman of Darlington (Lab, FCDO): On 15 January, the Foreign Secretary and Minister West met the four Hong Kong campaigners residing in the UK who were targeted with arrest warrants by the Hong Kong police on 24 December.
During the meeting, the Foreign Secretary and Minister West made it clear that the safety of the UK’s Hong Kong community is a priority. This followed the Foreign Secretary’s public statement on Christmas Eve condemning the Hong Kong police’s targeting of individuals for exercising their right to freedom of expression.
The Government will continue to stand with and support members of the Hong Kong community who have relocated to the UK.
