Two bishops took part in a vote in the House of Lords yesterday (24th March), on an amendment to the Government’s Defence Reform Bill, during its Report Stage.

Two bishops voted against Labour Peer Lord Tunnicliffe’s Amendment 2 to the Bill, which related to the independence of the Single Source Regulations Office – the new body that will monitor Ministry of Defence contracts awarded without competition – and sought to move

the Office from the Ministry of Defence (as currently set out in the Bill) to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

Those bishops voting ‘not content’ were the Bishops of Chester and Peterborough. No bishop voted ‘content’.

There were Contents: 169 / Not Contents: 227. Result: Government Win
