Votes: EU (Withdrawal) Bill

On 23rd April 2018 the House of Lords considered amendments to the EU (Withdrawal) Bill at its Report Stage. Two votes took place on amendments to the Bill, in which bishops took part:

Lord Pannick moved amendment 15, in clause 5, page 3, line 20, to leave out subsections (4) and (5) and insert:

“( ) The following provisions of the Charter of Fundamental Rights are not part of domestic law on or after exit day—

(a) the Preamble, and

(b) Chapter V.”

The House divided: Content: 316|Not Content: 245|Result: Government defeat

The Bishop of Chester and the Bishop of St Albans voted Content.


Lord Warner moved amendment 18:

in Schedule 1, page 16, to leave out lines 11 to 15.

The House divided: Contents: 285 | Not Contents: 235 | Result: Government Defeat

The Bishop of Chester voted Not Content.
