On 16th November 2021, the House of Lords debated the Dormant Assets Bill in the report stage. A vote was held on an amendment to the bill, in which a Bishop took part:

The Bishop of Newcastle took part in a vote on an amendment tabled by Lord Bassam of Brighton which would allow for the creation of community wealth funds “as a means of tackling deprivation and building social infrastructure in left-behind communities. It would mandate the Secretary of State to establish and review the effectiveness of one or more pilot schemes which would run over at least ten years.” Hansard
