The Bishop of St Albans received the following written answer on 5th September 2022:
The Lord Bishop of St Albans asked Her Majesty’s Government when they last had contact with Shaun Pinner, currently being held by the Donetsk People’s Republic; what assessment they have made of his health; and what conversations are ongoing concerning his release.
Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon (Con): We are actively working on the cases of British Nationals who have been detained in non-government held areas of Ukraine, including Shaun Pinner, and are providing support to their families. The UK Government is in constant contact with the Ukrainian authorities on this issue as a matter of urgency and is fully supportive of all their efforts to secure the release of the detainees. We have raised concerns with the Russian authorities about British detainees and reminded them of their obligations under International Humanitarian Law.
