On 5th July 2023, the House of Lords debated the Illegal Migration Bill in the third day of the report stage. Votes were held on amendments to the bill, in which Bishops took part:

The Bishop of Chichester, the Bishop of Durham, the Bishop of Exeter, and the Bishop of Gloucester took part in a vote on amendment 156a, tabled by the Bishop of Durham, which would reinstate the right of appeal against age assessments for putative children who would otherwise face removal under the bill, and prevent a judicial review challenge to an age assessment from serving as a barrier to the putative child’s removal from the UK.
