On 11th February, the House of Lords debated the Great British Energy Bill in the report stage. Votes were held on amendments to the bill, in which Bishops took part:

Division 1:
The Bishop of Norwich and the Bishop of St Albans voted in favour of an amendment to the bill tabled by Earl Russell, to insert the new clause Warm Homes Plan and emergency home insulation.

The Bishop of St Albans and the Bishop of Norwich took part in a vote on an amendment to the bill tabled by Lord Petitgas, which would stipulate that “(2A) The maximum amount of financial assistance provided by the Secretary of State must not exceed £8.3 billion.”

The Bishop of St Albans voted Content. The Bishop of Norwich voted Not Content.
The Bishop of St Albans voted in favour of an amendment to the bill tabled by Lord Alton of Liverpool, which would stipulate that: “(6) Financial assistance under this section must not be provided if there exists credible evidence of modern slavery in the energy supply chain of any company designated Great British Energy.”
The amendment was agreed. Content: 177 / Not Content: 127.
