On 14th July 2025, the House of Lords debated the Employment Rights Bill. Votes were held on amendments to the bill, in which a Bishop took part:

Division 1:
The Bishop of Manchester took part in a vote on an amendment tabled by Lord Goddard of Stockport which would “change the provisions in the Bill from a requirement for an employer to offer guaranteed hours to a right to request guaranteed hours by an employee.”
The amendment was agreed. Content: 264 / Not Content: 158
The Bishop of Manchester voted Not Content.
Division 2:
The Bishop of Manchester took part in a vote on an amendment tabled by Lord Goddard of Stockport which would define ““short notice” as at least 48 hours before a shift is due to start, and clarifies that if this notice is given, the employer will not be required to make a payment under section 27BP.”
The amendment was agreed. Content: 267 / Not Content: 153
The Bishop of Manchester voted Not Content.
Division 3:
The Bishop of Manchester took part in a vote on an amendment tabled by Lord Young of Acton which would stipulate that: “employers only have to protect their employees from non-sexual third-party harassment if it is directed at the employee, meaning employers would not have to take all reasonable steps to protect their employees from overheard conversations, remarks or jokes.”
The amendment was disagreed. Content: 161 / Not Content: 191
The Bishop of Manchester voted Not Content.
