Votes: Enterprise Act 2002 (Mergers Involving Newspaper Enterprises and Foreign Powers) Regulations 2025

On 22nd July 2025, a vote took place in the House of Lords on amendments to the Enterprise Act 2002:

Division 1:

The Bishop of Newcastle took part in a vote on an amendment tabled by Lord Fox which would decline to approve the Regulations “as the proposal to allow foreign states to own up to 15 per cent of UK newspapers constitutes a direct threat to the freedom of the British press; and is contrary to the policy intention of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.”
