Votes: Schools Bill (HL)

On 12th July 2022, the House of Lords considered amendments to the Schools Bill, and two votes were held on amendments to the bill, in which a Bishop took part.

Division 1:

The Bishop of Durham took part in a vote on an amendment from Baroness Meacher, to insert a new clause titled Religion and Worldviews Education.

“This replaces religious education in Academies without a religious character with religion and worldviews, which is explicitly inclusive of non-religious beliefs and is explicitly required to be objective, critical and pluralistic.” Hansard

The Bishop of Durham took part in a vote on an amendment from Lord Storey to insert a new clause into the bill concerning provision of free school meals to all pupils from families receiving universal credit.
