On 26th April 2023, the House of Lords debated the Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill in the report stage. Votes were held on amendments to the bill, in which Bishops took part:

Division 1:
The Bishop of Guildford, the Bishop of Durham and the Bishop of Sheffield took part in a vote on an amendment tabled by Lord Fox that would require consultations to be carried out and reviewed before powers in the bill concerning minimum service levels could be used.

Division 2:
The Bishop of Guildford took part in a vote on an amendment to the bill tabled by Baroness O’Grady of Upper Holloway that “would prevent failure to comply with a work notice from being regarded as a breach of contract or constituting lawful grounds for dismissal or any other detriment.”

The Bishop of Guildford took part in a vote on an amendment to the bill tabled by Lord Collins of Highbury that would remove the section of the bill that removes protection from unions.

The Bishop of Durham took part in a vote on an amendment tabled by Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd which would limit the application of the act to England only.
