On 17th April 2023, the House of Lords debated the Energy Bill in the second day of the report stage. Votes were held on amendments to the bill, in which bishops took part:

The Bishop of St Albans and the Bishop of Worcester took part in a vote on an amendment tabled by Baroness Hayman, which would impose a duty on the Secretary of State to bring forward plans for low carbon and energy efficient new homes:
“Baroness Hayman moved amendment 97, before clause 200, to insert the new clause National Warmer Homes and Businesses Action Plan.”

The Bishop of Worcester took part in a vote on an amendment tabled by Baroness Hayman that would require Ofgem to have regard to meeting the UK’s net zero target as part of their general duties:
“Baroness Hayman moved amendment 133, after clause 264, to insert the new clause GEMA general duties relating to climate change.”
